B Clay's Bonanza Blog Series

Come share the adventure of summer life in Chicago as a young man living in Chi-town working for a gaming manufacturer and playing in the MLL.

Welcome to the B Clay Bonanza Blog Series

06/12/2008 By Brian

Welcome to the introduction of the infamous B Clay's Bonanza Blog Series.  This blog will include the obvious topics (lacrosse, work, interests, hobbies, and my thoughts of course) and the not so obvious (details on the amazingly "unique" people you can meet while playing a slot machine at Planet Hollywood in good old Las Vegas Nevada).  The latter is more of the PG-13 type and will be discussed in further detail once I get a feel for how this community will handle the topic.

That photo is from the Mexico vs. Peru game I attended this past weekend at Soldier Field in Chicago.  Over 33,000 people attended the game on a Sunday evening.  Had tickets at the midline and the atmosphere was AMAZING! The Mexican fans are some of the coolest people I have ever met in my life.  Could not stop smiling from all the energy in the stadium.  Mexico won 4-0.

I am sitting here in our Las Vegas office training our Sales people on a new CRM tool that we will be implementing in the very near future.  Got an email from my buddy Hirbod Azmi telling me about the Suffern High School Alumni Game that I missed this past weekend.  Pretty upset I couldn't go, but obviously had my own lacrosse game to attend to vs. San Francisco Dragons.  He also asked me to write the blog that I had promised him I would do a while back.  (Whoops!)

It is Thursday afternoon and I still haven't gotten my travel itinerary from the Chicago Machine office.  Usually they are very good about getting our itineraries out (they come on Tuesdays typically).  They pay for and do all the scheduling for flights and arrangements for transportation to and from our games.  It is a 10x better system than what I was used to with the Rochester Rattlers where I would have to schedule my own flights and make arrangements to get to and from the field while only getting reimbursed up to $200 for a flight.  Pretty shotty huh?

I just received a text from one of our coaches, Phil Ryan, saying that itineraries will be sent out this afternoon directly from our travel agency.  Phil usually has this really sophisticated itinerary that he sends out with everyones flight information and schedule for the weekend along with contact information for the hotel and all the coaches.  This is definitely reassuring that I will be getting this schedule for the weekend soon.

As for my thoughts on the game this weekend.  I could go into great lengths on how I feel about going into this weekend 1-3.  But the abridged version is this:
We are going to win! I absolutely hate losing, especially close games like we have.  This weekend we are going to turn things around.  We will not let this game slip.
Check the lax score of the Chicago Machine vs. Philadelphia Barrage score on Saturday night.....see if I'm right.

I'll leave you on that note.

My prayers go out to Kieran Murphy.  A high school teammate, a college opponent, and a great friend, who had a freak lacrosse accident our in California recently and is in the hospital recovering.  Wishing you all the best my friend.  Get better soon.
